Volotea, the airline connecting small and mid-sized European cities, has been named Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2025 at the 32nd edition of the prestigious World Travel Awards, held this year in Cagliari, Sardinia.

The World Travel Awards are among the most prestigious programs in the global travel and tourism industry, recognizing excellence across all key areas of travel, tourism, and hospitality. They are widely regarded as a benchmark of quality and achievement in the sector.

Winners are determined through an online vote open to tourism professionals, such as travel agents, tour operators and international organizations, as well as to the general public. Volotea stood out among eight finalist airlines from across Europe.

According to Alex de Jesús, Chief Experience Officer at Volotea:

Receiving this award for the fourth time is a great honor and motivation to keep improving every day. At Volotea, we work continuously to offer a warm, comfortable, and high-quality experience that reflects our approach to travel. This award is the result of the effort of our entire team, especially our crews and operations teams who make every flight possible, and of the trust placed in us by the millions of passengers who choose Volotea year after year. We will continue to enhance our services so that flying with us remains synonymous with an exceptional experience.”

Representatives from Volotea attended the ceremony to receive the award, including Valeria Rebasti, International Market Director; Pietro Cassitta, Marketing Director; and several Volotea crew members based in Sardinia, where the airline has an operational base in Olbia: Roberto Ruggeri, Giulia Muccioli, Jessica Sanna, and Monica Porcheddu.

Volotea among Europe’s most highly rated airlines by passengers

According to recent results, Volotea ranks among Europe’s top-rated airlines, with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) — the global benchmark used to measure customer satisfaction and loyalty — of 46.9 points as of September, representing a 35.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Among Megavolotea members, the NPS reached 55.5 points (+18% vs 2024) during the first nine months of the year, confirming the strong trust and high perception of quality among the airline’s most loyal passengers.

These results reflect Volotea’s ongoing investment in enhancing the customer experience, with faster processes at airports, increasingly refined onboard services, and a focus on comfort and attention to detail, including more legroom, reclining seats, and a pleasant atmosphere created through music, lighting, and cabin cleanliness.

The company aims to close 2025 nearing its target of 50 NPS points, an ambitious goal that would mark another step forward in its passenger satisfaction–driven growth.
