Aeroflot named world’s second-best airline by National Geographic Traveller

Aeroflot has been voted second-best airline globally and undisputed leader of the Russian market by Russian readers of National Geographic Traveller, one of the world’s most popular travel magazines.

Aeroflot ranked second behind only Emirates — named world’s best airline at this year’s World Airline Awards and like Aeroflot a Four Star Airline according to Skytrax, the authoritative global airline ratings agency — and ahead of peers including Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Etihad (a Skytrax Five Star Airline).

In the Russian market, Aeroflot took 56% of the vote, twice the tally of its nearest competitor, to retain its title for the second year running. Pobeda, Aeroflot Group’s low-cost carrier, took third place.

Readers of National Geographic Traveller voted in an online poll from September 8 to November 6 to choose the best tourist destinations and services in 23 categories. The poll has been held annually since 2011.
