Wizz Air celebrates 11 million Dortmund passengers

Wizz Air last week  celebrates the significant milestone of its 11 millionth Dortmund passenger. - We are delighted to celebrate the significant milestone of 11 million passengers in Dortmund, at one of the busiest WIZZ airports in our ever-growing network. We continue our joint success story with Dortmund Airport launching six new routes and expanding our operations by 19% this year. We will keep on offering the lowest fares and an excellent customer experience on-board one of Europe’s most modern fleets to our German customers and their visitors, said Gabor Vasarhelyi, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.

Dortmund was one of the first cities Wizz Air brought its low fares to in 2004 and since then the airline has constantly expanded its network. In 2017 Wizz Air carried 1.25 million passengers on its low-fare Dortmund routes supporting over 900* jobs in the region, stimulating aviation, transportation, hospitality and tourism industries. Underlining its commitment to Dortmund, the airline has already announced to start six new routes from the city this year to Vienna in Austria, Olsztyn-Mazury and Poznan in Poland, Kharkiv and Lviv in Ukraine and Iasi in Romania.

Wizz Air now connects Dortmund with 25 destinations offering 1.35 million seats on sale in the first 10 months of 2018, 19% more than in the same period of the previous year.

Along with Dortmund, Wizz Air operates from 10 other German airports: Berlin Schonefeld, Cologne, Frankfurt Am Main, Frankfurt Hahn, Friedrichshafen, Hamburg, Hanover, Baden Baden, Munich Memmingen and Nuremberg. In 2017 3.4 million passengers traveled with WIZZ on its low-fare German routes, 29% growth year on year.

Wizz Air now offers 82 routes to 15 countries from Germany.
