San Francisco is an ever more popular travel destination, and last week SAS announced that the direct route between Copenhagen and San Francisco will become daily from the winter season, due to high demand. The increased capacity is part of the airline’s winter program which begins at the end of October, and will lead to a 25% growth in seat capacity.
San Francisco Travel, the city’s official tourism organisation, is pleased with the increased frequency on the SAS route:
– Scandinavians can’t get enough of the USA, and San Francisco is among the top destinations. Since SAS opened the direct route from Copenhagen in 2013, we have seen a booming interest in visiting the city, so we are delighted that there will now be daily departures. I don’t think the interest in San Francisco from our region has peaked yet,” says Karin Gert Nielsen, Managing Director of San Francisco Travel in Scandinavia and Finland.
In 2014, San Francisco welcomed a record 18 million tourists, an increase of 6.5 percent compared to the previous year. The iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Alcatraz and Fisherman’s Wharf are among the city’s most visited sights.
